On November 8, 2019 Salem Central School-Washington Academy held the 9th Annual Take A Veteran to School Day Assembly. Salem Boy Scouts and the Patriot Guard escorted the veterans into the gym to a drum cadence by Ethan Drinkwine and Ian Lockhart. The program opened with remarks by Karen Vieira, Pre-K to 6 Elementary Principal and Julie Adams, Junior High/High School Principal. There were presentations by: Riley Gallagher, Hannah Gongola and Annabelle Haight sang the Star-Spangled Banner, Girl Scout Troop 3061- "Veterans' Day", The Song "American Tears"- performed by the Third Grade & Junior Chorus, Facts About the United States Flag Presented by Reagan Jackson, Declan Donaldson, Anna Maxwell, Kiernan Haskell, Breanna Vincent and Kaiden Donisthorpe. The Senior High School Band performed "Veterans' Salute" and a "Thank You" from the students, faculty and staff was shown. The guest speaker was Jack Haskell, U.S. Air Force, Senior Master Sergeant, Retired who spoke about his experiences from around the world. Each veteran was introduced and Robert Ceglowski, Salem Board of Education President spoke about the importance of the day. Dr. David Glover, Superintendent of Salem Central School provided closing statements about the ceremony and the day.
